In 2000 Jean Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud decided to keep a plot from the Château Valandraud vineyard and started the production of a white wine: Valandraud Blanc was born. Virginie de Valandraud Blanc is the second wine of Valandraud Blanc. Each year, the blending is different and confirmed after several tastings before the bottling.
For the Virginie bottling the grape mix differs from the Chateau release with a higher amount of Semillon, and surprisingly no Sauvignon Blanc. The breakdown being: 55% Sémillon and 45% Sauvignon Gris. Ageing is done in a mix of oak barrels and concrete tanks and just 6000 bottles are released each year.
