Part of Boann's 2020 Vintage Mashbill Project, this exclusive release is a vatting of two exceptional casks:
Cask No. 2291 – A rejuvenated French Oak (Quercus Petraea) barrique from Bordeaux
Cask No. 2301 – An Oloroso hogshead from Montilla-Moriles, crafted by J.L. Rodriguez using vintage staves and virgin American oak heads
Both casks were filled on 9th December 2020 with a distinctive mixed mash bill of locally sourced Irish grains:
30% Malted Barley, 40% Unmalted Barley, and 30% Wheat
This mash bill reflects the grain-driven character of Ireland’s Wheat Boom era, shaped by Foster’s Corn Laws, the 1801 Act of Union, and Napoleon’s Continental Blockade - a time when wheat played a pivotal role in shaping Irish whiskey’s unique identity.
