Description

This superb, limited-edition Irish whiskey is a combination of 2003 malt whiskey aged in ex-bourbon casks and finished for a year in 1st fill Oloroso sherry casks, along with a 2008 grain whiskey matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished for two years in Oloroso hogsheads. Expect aromas of zesty orange marmalade and sweet dried apricots, which are balanced by a creamy maltiness and earthy vanilla pods with flavours of pancakes and maple syrup, floral honey, and dried fruits and a long sweet finish with notes of chocolate-covered almond notes and vanilla shortbread. Non chill filtered and bottled at 46%. A rare find.

Producer

Hinch Distillery is located in Killaney Estate, just outside Ballynahinch in County Down. The distillery takes its name from the nearby town of Ballynahinch, whose name in Irish translates as ‘town of the island’.

The distillery has three Pot stills, 10,000Lt, 5,500Lt and 2,500Lt with a capacity of over 3 million bottles of Single Malt and Pot still per year. I

Hinch Distillery has since launched five new small batch aged whiskies and their gin, Ninth Wave, which draws inspiration from Irish mythology.
