Pol Roger founded the champagne house of the same name in 1849. His first growths were released in 1853. The owners of Pol Roger are members of the Primum Familiae Vini, an association of family-owned wineries limited to just twelve families. Pol Roger holds the current Royal Warrant as purveyors of champagne to Queen Elizabeth II. A classic and elegant styled Champagne house whose wines all contain a high proportion of Chardonnay.
Pol Roger has always aimed their White Foil at the English market and it was a favourite with Winston Churchill. In 1984, Pol Roger introduced the Pinot noir-dominant Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill in his honour.
