Que Syrah, Syrah!  Whether you’re a connoisseur or just enjoy a glass at the weekend, anyone can enjoy wine tastings – and now is a good time as ever on this International Wine Tasting Day! This day goes as far back as 2009 where wine enthusiasts can celebrate their favourite bottles of vino or simply try a new one! And so to celebrate, we’ve put together some different styles of wines that are sure to tickle your taste buds!

1) Anima AN/2 2019

A blend that demonstrates the true varieties of the island of Mallorca! Made from a blend of 65% Callet, 20% Manto-Negro - Fogoneu, and 15% Syrah. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 13 months. The end result gives us a smooth, balanced, flavoursome, and silky wine with great flavours of balsamic and mineral hints and a finish of fresh vegetables.

ABV: 13% | €32.00

2) Chateau La Tour De By Rose 2020

A fantastic Bordeaux Rose made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 35-year-old vines planted on pebbly soils on the banks of the Gironde. Fresh notes of red currant, garden strawberry, red cherry, lemon, and light floral notes on the nose. Citrussy flavour with notes of red berries, a good degree of minerality, and a short citrus aftertaste.

ABV: 13.5% | €15.00

3) Portillo Sauvignon Blanc

Easy drinking and fresh, this is the perfect crowd-pleasing Sauvignon Blanc for all occasions or even just for a quiet night in. It is excellent value for money. All the way from Mendoza, the palate is vibrant and young. It's deliciously citrusy with a clean acidity that balances the pronounced fruit character. Can be enjoyed on its own or as an aperitif. Also matches well with seafood, goats cheese and grilled white meats.

ABV: 12.5% | €14.00

4) La Farra Valdobbiadene Superiore Brut Spumante Prosecco

Created in the Spumante style (fully sparkling), this award-winning wine makes a great and inexpensive alternative to Champagne. It is created from a selection of grapes coming from the vines on the Farra di Soligo and S. Pietro di Feletto hills with clay and limestone soils. Deliciously dry with melon and creamy notes. Soft and balanced with just the right amount of acidity!

ABV: 11% | €23.00

5) Martinez Marsala Superiore Dry Reserve

A traditionally made dry version of Marsala wine, produced in the region surrounding the Italian city of Marsala in Sicily. Aged for over 5 years in oak cask, including some Sherry casks. Made using native Grillo, Catarratto and Inzolia grapes. We recommend pairing this one with parmesan, dried fruit and salted nuts such as almonds and pistachios, biscotti and tarts to really bring out those wonderful notes on the palate.

6) Quinta do Noval LBV

One of our favourites from the Quinta do Noval range! This port is suitable for drinking now but will also age extremely well in the bottle. This remarkable example is made using only noble grape varieties from the Quinta, trodden by foot and unfiltered. Well-structured tannins with great liveliness, rich ripe black fruit and spices and a long-lasting pleasant finish.
