Wing commander Montgomery “Monty” Colins was posted in Berlin after World War II. He then moved to the northern Black Forest region where he opened a country guesthouse, “The Wild Monkey”. It was here where he developed a natural and regional basis recipe of Black Forest gin: juniper, pure spring water and a variety of special herbal ingredients.
Monkey 47 gin has been created 60 years ago and is currently available in over 50 countries on four continents. This brand takes its name from its composition: 47 handpicked plant ingredients prepared in a soft spring water from the Black Forest.
