Killowen Distillery is situated beside the Mourne Mountains of County Down and run by Head Distiller Brendan Carty. It is one of Ireland’s smallest distilleries with the goal to bring back some heritage Irish whiskey styles to the market. The distillery uses two handmade artisan pot stills which are flame fed to give their whiskies a contemporary twist. Killowen Distillery is also the only distillery in Ireland to focus on purely worm tub condensers. The distillery has even experimented with drying their own barley with peat smoke like their Scottish counterparts.
The distillery has since made a name for itself for its copper pot whiskey, gin, and poitin.
