Gran Centenario
Gran Centenario was first created by the Gallardo family 150 years ago. It has been artfully crafted at Hacienda Los Camichines since 1857.
The story begins with tavern owner, Lazaro Gallardo, selling his own tequila, named Gran Centenario in 1895. Lazaro’s son, Luciano, decided to begin bottling the tequila in 1920. Inspired by the Art Deco style of architecture, he designed a bottle similar to the one used today. The bottle is adorned with “The Angel of Independence”, inspired by the Mexican Centenario gold bullion coin, minted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mexico’s independence.
Gran Centenario is made from the finest 100% blue agave plants grown on the estate at high altitudes. The agave then undergoes a process called 'Seleccion Suave' or 'Smooth Selection'. This process consists of selecting a mixture of different barrel batches, to achieve the unique profile that characterizes the tequila.
Gran Centenario offers a variety of products, including Gran Centenario Plata, which is rested in new American oak barrels for seven weeks, Gran Centenario Reposado, which is rested in new American oak barrels for four months, and Gran Centenario Anejo which is rested in new American oak barrels for 16 months.
