Description

The first release from Egan's, we have here a 10 year old single malt whiskey which is non-chill-filtered and bottled at 47%. P&H Egan was a company established in 1852 in Tullamore where their business was bottling wine and whiskey for the domestic market. The company has now been revived by the descendants of the original founders and this is their first offering.

Producer

Egan’s Irish whiskey was founded in the 1800s by Patrick Egan. In 1835. His two sons established P. & H. Egan Limited which grew to be a respected business in Tullamore.

The business was family-run for four generations, until the Egan family voluntarily closed the business in 1968.

However, in 2013, the Egan family resurrected the brand. P&H Egan's Limited was reformed and their first expression was launched in 2014, Egan's 10 year old single malt. Though it was technically new to the market, Egan’s releases are seen as more of a rebirth of the historic family brand, still owned by direct descendants.

Aroma

Lively and fresh with characters typically found in Bourbon cask matured whiskeys. Aromas of pineapple, coconut, vanilla, ginger snaps, baked apples and freshly baked cookies.

Flavour

Assertive and fruity to taste and surprisingly easy to drink at full strength. Medium bodied and powerful with pronounced fruit flavours of pineapple, ripe red apples, mango, banana becoming spicy and oaky towards the finish.
