Description

Part of Diageo's Distillers Edition range and was initially matured in American oak before being finished in Moscatel wine casks. This results in a sweeter, grapier tasting version of Caol Ila. Expect flavours of demerara sugar, white grapes, some orange peel notes, and of course, plenty of peat smoke too!

Producer

Caol Ila is the largest of the eight distilleries scattered across the Isle of Islay on the west of Scotland. The distillery dates back to 1846. Caol Ila is one of the lighter Islay whiskies, but with a distinctive floral and peppery notes which complement the traditional Islay peaty flavour. The distillery is owned by Diageo and is considered one of the company's "volume" distilleries, producing over three million litres of alcohol each year.
