Calmel and Joseph Winery

Laurent Calmel and Jerome Joseph founded Calmet and Joesph Winery in 1995 through a shared passion for the wines of the Mediterranean and a desire to establish the Languedoc as a region of both quality and value. They started to work with vineyards across the breadth of the region to explore and champion what they refer to as its ‘palette of terroir’. This stretches from the Cévennes and the Camargue, between the Montagne Noire and the Mediterranean, from the Pyrenees foothills to the border of the Spanish coast and is considered to be the biggest wine region in the world. It is in this area, the Languedoc Roussillon,  where one finds the greatest variety of soils. The winery takes care to select the most expressive fruit and managing the winemaking and maturation processes themselves.

Nowadays Calmel and Joseph Winery boasts a stunning, organically farmed 200-hectare property on the outskirts of Carcassonne, with 20 hectares under vine. The size and sheltered nature of the property allow them to create a unique and sustainable ecosystem with olive groves, lavender fields, almond orchards, and beehives.

Their varietal, easy-drinking wines come exclusively from private wineries. Part of the unique taste comes from their quest to seek unknown, original, or lesser-known grape varieties and create a harmonious balance of fruit and freshness in every bottle.
