2002 is a very special year for Barbeito as it marks the year Ricardo Diogo met Mr. João dos Reis, owner of the vineyard which is now cultivated by his sons. Since 2002, Vinhos Barbeito has been harvesting continuously in this vineyard located in Campanario, a parish traditionally considered to be where the Boal grape is produced for the longest time in Madeira. Barbeito Boal 2002 is a fitting tribute to João dos Reis and his family, as well as to the friendship with the Barbeito family, which grows stronger every year. In August 2020, 1,188 bottles had been filled, all individually numbered.
