Aberlour Distillery
Aberlour is a classic Speyside distillery was founded by Peter Weir and James Gordon in 1826 in the village of the same name. Water is sourced from several springs on nearby Ben Rinnes. Although most Aberlour malt is matured in ex-bourbon casks its best successes recently have been with sherry finished whiskies. Aberlour A'Bunadh is a modern classic which is finished in Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at cask strength.
Today, Aberlour is owned by Chivas Brothers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard and has grown to become the seventh bestselling Scotch single malt.
